Volume XII Spring 2020
Hey Beautiful People,

Can you even fathom the last few months? Surreal, right? It's been trying. My husband gave me a manicure, pedicure and even colored my hair. I love him, but I'm ready to get back to professional services.

On a more sober note, two former patients tested positive for COVID 19. It was challenging, but the good news is they are doing well today. Our state has not suffered the physical losses of other states (and we are grieving with them), but the economic losses for many of my friends' businesses have been great. I'm so glad things are opening up and our rates of infection are going down.

Positives have emerged from this. We as a family have started biking more and I was given a new bike for Mother's Day! We've gone to several drive by birthday parties and our neighborhood did a drive by parade for the seniors which was fun.

One thing I know from all of this, is not to allow fear to consume us. We need to respect this virus, but not fear it. I also know that the best thing we can do for ourselves and our families is to continue the journey toward optimum health. This can be achieved at any age.

Our own immune systems are the best defense we have. It is my joy to help others move further and further away from chronic disease. It is why I write this newsletter. It is why I do everything I do as a nutritionist. Good health gives you freedom.

Grace, Peace and Love,

Lindy
The Blankenship Family

The Blankenships are truly amazing. When 14 year old Autumn decided she wanted to get healthier, her parents rallied. I've seen this numerous times. Everyone benefits when a family is supporting each other. Autumn has impressed me. Even though she wasn't always keen on some of the foods I wanted her to try, she still did try them. Autumn's consistency has been the key to her success. The girl is unstoppable.

Mom, Barbie, also impresses me. She tries new recipes, shops for new products and has been the gatekeeper in getting her family healthier. Barbie has been the heart of their success.

Autumn states, "Lindy has helped me so much become healthier and understand what foods are best for me to eat. She has helped guide me with vitamins and supplements to help me feel and be my best. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to be a better version of themselves." Autumn has lost 31 pounds so far and some of it came off even before I entered the scene. Because she hit a milestone recently, her dad promised her they would do a Tictoc video together. Not sure what song they will perform yet, but it will be entertaining.

Barbie told me recently that Autumn said, "I'm finally starting to feel like myself." When her mom asked her what that meant, she said, "I never felt comfortable in my body and now I'm starting to." How can that not make me feel happier than a pig in slop?

NAC
Pure Encapsulations
During this COVID 19 season, I took a class from I took a 5 hour class for health professionals. It was conducted by an MD/PhD Medical researcher who only gave facts with proven research. Along with other proven immune boosters, this doctor emphasized N acetyl cysteine (NAC) the most.
NAC is a precursor to Glutathione, a powerful antioxidant and liver detoxifier. Both decrease greatly as we age.

During this time, he advised that all adults be taking NAC. He recommended 600 - 1,200 mg/day. The safety profile is high. It is just contraindicated for people with a rare condition called Cystinuria. Please consult your health care practitioner before starting any supplement.

Along with neutralizing free radicals (cancer precursors), NAC is a powerful anti viral agent. Nothing is 100%, but it will help you to arm yourself against any virus.

Here are other facts about NAC:

  • Neutralizes Free Radical Damage
  • Fights anxiety/depression and other mental conditions
  • Used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis
  • Suppresses inflammation in the brain
  • Used to treat Acetaminophen overdoses
  • Fights viruses through the Interferon pathway
  • Used to decrease cravings for addictions: cocaine, cannabis & nicotine
  • Fights Psoriasis.

NAC was out of stock with many of my manufacturers for awhile. In my practice, I use either Pure Encapsulations or Integrative Therapeutics. Both are back in stock now.

The Ford's have enjoyed hitting the open road on bikes. We've discovered trails we didn't know existed in Wilmington.
Bryan is the General Contractor on a large commercial building in Maryland. Because of the virus, it has been closed down for 3 months. So he wouldn't die of boredom, we bought a tiny boat and it has been fun exploring all the islands around the Intracoastal.
We participated in several employee appreciation events at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington lately. We work with a nonprofit called "Yellow Truck Coffee Company." They are all over Wilmy serving free coffee with encouragement. Check them out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/yellowtruckcoffeeco/

Lindy Ford understands the power of nutrition personally. Several years ago she applied nutritional protocols to overcome a debilitating health crises.

This is one of the reasons Lindy’s passion is helping people achieve greater freedom through wellness and nutrition. She holds a degree in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from the University of Maryland. Lindy also holds a degree in Theatre / Communications from Towson University (weird, she knows). She is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist.

Lindy loves her job. She runs a private nutrition practice in Wilmington, NC, but counsels people all over the US through video conferencing. Lindy practices functional/integrative nutrition or “what works nutrition.” The goal is to get to the root of the problem and then base treatment on up-to-date science. This approach takes longer, but the results are superior and long-lasting.

Lindy’s patients have particularly benefited from her expertise in issues related to blood sugar, heart disease, weight control, the GI system and the thyroid.
