Volume X Fall 2019
I was recently hired by Acella Pharmaceuticals, LLC, the makers of NP Thyroid to write blog posts for the company. Inflammation is the root cause of most disease states including thyroid disease. Here is the first blog post for NP Thyroid:

The research jury is in. The verdict? Chronic inflammation is the root cause of most serious diseases, including heart disease, many cancers, thyroid disease, diabetes, gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and Alzheimer’s disease.

Inflammation on the surface of the body presents as swelling, redness, heat and pain. It is the foundation of the body’s natural healing process, bringing more immune activity to a site of injury or infection. That’s good. When inflammation manifests internally and persists, it damages the body and causes illness. That’s not good.

Stress, lack of exercise, genetic predisposition, exposure to toxins (such as environmental chemicals, cigarette smoke and chemicals in foods) can all contribute to chronic inflammation, but dietary choices play the biggest role. Research shows that an increase of free radicals increases the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines when the diet has an excess of refined carbohydrates.1 There are other dietary choices that raise inflammation as well.

Because of YouTube, I now counsel patients all over the US. Vicky was along ways from me--Colorado! She did the hard work and trusted the process. Here is her story:

"My energy is amazing and I no longer crave sugar.  The biggest tool in my success was working with Lindy. I couldn't have done this well with picking up a book or listening to the poor advice my family doctor offered me: "Your A1-C is high and you are pre-diabetic. Eat more veggies and lean meat," is what I heard. When I went to my doctor about my weight gain, I was offered appetite suppressants (which made me ill). It was just a quick fix and absolutely nothing was said about nutrition.

Lindy asked for a lot of bloodwork which revealed inflammation, hashimotos thyroiditis, high A1C (a diabetes marker) and low Vitamin D. I needed help with my immune system. I caught every bug that passed and was sick of being sick. I was tired all the time no matter how much sleep I got, was on an anti-depressant and had brain fog that was enough for me to think I was coming down with dementia. I'm 51 and honestly thought this was just apart of turning over into the next century.

Lindy evaluated my blood work, redirected my eating, suggested supplements and asked me to trust her. When I started to see results, I knew I was on the right track. I tried everything before with no results. I feel amazing-- honestly better than I did at 40. I'm losing weight weekly, my last blood work showed improvement and my brain fog completely gone. Lindy is honest, extremely knowledgeable and truly cares for your well being. I no longer struggle with food and my choices. I'm no longer hungry between meals or searching the cabinets for that hidden "emergency" Hershey bar. I'm forever grateful for Lindy."

PURELEAN NUTRIENTS
Pure Encapsulations

• Supports Weight Management
Health practitioners have considered Pure Encapsulations the "Gold Standard" in supplement companies for years. Their quality control and pure ingredients are second to none. In my practice, I use only PE multis, but this one is new on the scene. Sometimes I recommend a men's or women's formula and sometimes Pure Lean Nutrients to those who need a little extra help in dropping the unwanted weight.

This is why:

  • Pure Lean Nutrients supports healthy glucose metabolism, lipid utilization, and weight management.

Vitamin/Mineral Distinctions:

  • Provides Metafolin® L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF), the naturally occurring, universally metabolized form of folate
  • Introduces PureWay-C®, rapid uptake vitamin C for healthy lipid antioxidant protection, and C-reactive protein metabolism.

Special Features:

  • MacularSynergy Complex; Enhances the integrity of the macula and retina with lutein and zeaxanthin. Synergistic cofactors include vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and carotenoids.
  • Metabolic GlycoPlex: Supports healthy glucose uptake with alpha lipoic acid and cinnamon and maintains healthy glycation activity with l-carnosine.
  • Metabolic LipidPlex: Combines the hepatic fat metabolism properties of taurine and green tea with the metabolic oxidative stress fighting capabilities of pterostilbene.

VITAMIN K2: WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT & HOW TO GET IT
This is NOT Vitamin K1 found in leafy greens (helps blood to coagulate). Not many know about the incredible vitamin K2 because it is newly discovered. Learn how it helps to build bones, prevent cancer, heart disease and kidney stones.
We've been taught "calories in, energy out" and this is a tiny fraction of the picture. Many factors go into health and weight loss. . .
Lindy speaks to a WIDE range of audiences—from athletic teams, health care professionals, law enforcement, church groups, teens, business organizations. . . she will tailor the talk to the subject and length you desire. Call or email.
Piper has been a busy theater bee these days. In August she played Young Elsa in Disney's "Frozen Junior" with Snow productions. It was a special production because of the digital backdrops and HUGE stage and venue.
Just a few weeks ago, Piper played the Chihuahua Narrator in Disney's "101 Dalmatians Jr." After each production this year, our sweet friend, Charlotte (and Peyton's grandma) paints both girls their character. So special.
Bryan has been a busy building bee these days. His work is amazing. In partnership with the Pioneer Group, Bryan built two beautiful homes in Carolina Beach, NC. He is now off to Baltimore to do a large commercial build.

Lindy Ford understands the power of nutrition personally. Several years ago she applied nutritional protocols to overcome a debilitating health crises.

This is one of the reasons Lindy’s passion is helping people achieve greater freedom through wellness and nutrition. She holds a degree in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from the University of Maryland. Lindy also holds a degree in Theatre / Communications from Towson University (weird, she knows). She is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist.

Lindy loves her job. She runs a private nutrition practice in Wilmington, NC, but counsels people all over the US through video conferencing. Lindy practices functional/integrative nutrition or “what works nutrition.” The goal is to get to the root of the problem and then base treatment on up-to-date science. This approach takes longer, but the results are superior and long-lasting.

Lindy’s patients have particularly benefited from her expertise in issues related to blood sugar, heart disease, weight control, the GI system and the thyroid.
