Volume IX Summer 2019
Most of us are pushing the envelope of life day and night. We are going to bed late and getting up early. We are attached to our smart phones and I Pads, running kids to every conceivable activity, working long hours, enduring family challenges, arguing with our spouses or bosses and eating less than optimal meals.

We think we can get away with all of this because, of course, we are “healthy,” but there are tiny glands that sit on top of our kidneys that would beg to differ. These glands are called the Adrenal glands and they are our body’s primary “shock absorbers.” They produce hormones like DHEA, norepinephrine and cortisol which all allow our bodies to respond to daily life stresses in a healthy way.

At first, Lisa's body was resistant to weight loss. I then started to treat her microbiome (gut) which had been compromised through the years with not enough gut building foods and too many antibiotics. I also added anti inflammatory supplements. This took her in the direction we both wanted. Lisa continued to do the hard work with her food choices and she is realizing better health each day. I am so proud!

"Lindy has been a game changer for me--a true Godsend.

Instead of trying to treat symptoms or just telling me what to eat or not eat, Lindy delved into the root of my weight issues. She helped me identify my metabolism type and ways to heal my gut after years of abuse on it. I'm incredibly thankful that Lindy helped me adopt a new, healthier way of living. She's amazing, supportive, and encouraging. I'm forever grateful!"

HPA ADAPT
Integrative Therapeutics

• Stress Resistance Complex
HPA Adapt combines five powerful adaptogenic herbs, including Rhodiola, Ashwagandha, Eleuthero, Maca, and Holy Basil, to maintain a healthy stress response. The ingredients support stress hormone balance via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.

For years I used Gaia HPA axis in my practice. It is a great product, but when I compared it to the HPA Adapt, the HPA Adapt came out on top. It has more rhodiola (improves weight and depression) and costs less.

Inflammation is the root of most diseases and causes a host of health conditions such as weight gain. Foods are the most effective way to fight inflammation. Which ones should we avoid?
This is actually my fave nutrition quote of all time. Adelle Davis was a nutritionist, biochemist and author in the 30's - 70's. Ms. Davis was a "woman before her time." She believed the inadequacies of the American diet were principally responsible for diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
Lindy speaks to a WIDE range of audiences—from athletic teams, health care professionals, law enforcement, church groups, teens, business organizations. . . she will tailor the talk to the subject and length you desire. Call or email.
Piper keeps us BUSY! In the Spring she played Perla the mouse in Snow Production's "Cinderella." Some of our family from Maryland were down for the weekend and able to support Piper.

Piper will be performing in the newly released stage play of Disney's Frozen! If you are in the Wilmington, NC area, please join us on August 9-11. More information
I redecorated my Kerr Avenue office in Wilmington. Here is the lobby. My husband says it looks like a crayon box threw up... I love me some color.
Lindy Ford understands the power of nutrition personally. Several years ago she applied nutritional protocols to overcome a debilitating health crises.

This is one of the reasons Lindy’s passion is helping people achieve greater freedom through wellness and nutrition. She holds a degree in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from the University of Maryland. Lindy also holds a degree in Theatre / Communications from Towson University (weird, she knows). She is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist.

Lindy loves her job. She runs a private nutrition practice in Wilmington, NC, but counsels people all over the US through video conferencing. Lindy practices functional/integrative nutrition or “what works nutrition.” The goal is to get to the root of the problem and then base treatment on up-to-date science. This approach takes longer, but the results are superior and long-lasting.

Lindy’s patients have particularly benefited from her expertise in issues related to blood sugar, heart disease, weight control, the GI system and the thyroid.
